Snakes in a Deck! – Deck Strategy
by Gabe Covert

Snakes are classic monsters... Indiana Jones hated them, Ice Cube got attacked by one in the swamp and, of course, James Earl Jones morphs into one at the end of “Conan the Barbarian.” The Conan CCG has a few serpentine foes in the Core set, and the promo cards available in the first Tournament Kit improve their lot.

The Foe Deck is where this deck gets its inspiration. Packed with 3 copies of “Ghost Snake”, 3 copies of “Giant Serpent”, and a single copy of the unique “The God in the Bowl”, this deck contains every Serpent the core set has to throw at an opponent. 15 of the 25 foes are Minor, which is a fairly high ratio. You’ll want to feed your opponent and only feed them 1 minor foe at a time until you can draw into either a Foe Draw FULL of majors, forcing Conan to face one of your big baddies, or a Foe Draw with enough minors to play a Major.

“Conan the Champion” is the spearhead of the deck. He has an incredibly high prowess, so he’ll be doing a LOT of moves, especially with the less expensive moves in this deck. Carousing” and “Storytelling” each run at 3 copies to provide some health recovery, and “I am a Cimmerian!” also shows up three times to boost Conan’s prowess during combat, giving him a little extra push.

The deck is move-heavy, with full play sets of “Coiled Attack”, which Conan benefits from, as well as “Serpentine Strike”, an inexpensive move that doesn’t give Conan any added benefits, but will have your Giant Serpents pounding the opposing Conan even further into the ground. You’ll also find a good mix of low-cost, high-initiative moves that have great synergy with the copies “Atlantean Sword” in the deck.

“Atlantean Sword” and “Lost City of Xuchotl” will add to Conan’s damage output, and 3 copies of “Wineskin” give him that extra boost of Prowess before Pressing On.

If your opponent isn’t afraid of snakes, he soon will be after playing this deck… It’s m*****-f*****’ Snakes in a m*****-f*****’ Deck!
